PIGMENTATION IS A CONDITION THAT CAUSES SKIN TO DARKEN IN AREAS WHERE TOO MUCH OF THE NATURAL PIGMENT KNOWN AS MELANIN HAS BEEN PRODUCED.

There are numerous causes of pigmentation, from spending too much time in the sun to hereditary factors and taking medications such as antibiotics. It can show as freckles, sun spots, age spots, dark circles under the eyes, and melasma.

Although pigmentation is relatively common and usually harmless, we understand that some clients feel self-conscious about it and that an uneven skin tone can give the impression of ageing. At Emma J Aesthetics we use ZO Skin Health – a tested and proven range of products and treatments to reduce pigmentation and make the difference you’re looking for. The range can also be used to target acne, rosacea, and active acne.

PIGMENTATION TREATMENT FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • If sun spots, freckles, dark circles under your eyes, or melasma concern you, then ZO Skin Health is a good choice of treatment. We will help choose the right programme for you, depending on the severity of your pigmentation and the results you’d like to achieve.

  • Most clients use this course for four to five months. We will go through this during your consultation as it can depend on the severity of your pigmentation and the results you want to achieve.

  • Redness, tingling and peeling are common in the initial stages of the ZO Skin Health programme, but these effects will settle as your skin builds tolerance. If you have a chemical peel, you may need to allow 3 – 10 days’ downtime after the treatment to allow your skin to calm down and stop peeling.

  • Results build over time and in the case of hydroquinone (pigmentation treatment) you can usually see optimum results at around five months. If your treatment plan includes a chemical peel, results will gradually improve even more over time.
